Start Now

Start when the pain is deep,
Start when the light seems dim.
Start when the ecstasy has waned,
Start when the mind seems tamed.
Start when the road is rough,
Start when the path seems tough.
Start when the winter comes,
Start when the rain endlessly pours.
Start when the wind is fierce,
Start when the summer brings tears.
Start when the ink seems blurry,
Start when the tears flow endlessly.
Start when the cold is bone chilling,
Start when the heat seems scorching.
Start when the night is still young,
Start when the day seems long.
Start when the die is cast,
Start when the rhythm seems lost.
Start when the laughter peaks, just start,
Start Now, 'cos Now Is All You Have!

Pistols at dawn🗣 (A Short Story)

Image
🤦🏾‍♂Seriously, this service year has done me in. My place of primary assignment (PPA) did not provide accommodation for corps members so I had to make do with a one room apartment popularly known as "face me I face you". Living with the indigenes is fun, but today it became a bit sour as I recount my ordeal. 🏚I came back from my PPA tired to my bones and still had to do some running around till 7pm. Thereafter, I dashed to the bathroom which was reeking of an odour I couldn't fathom. I managed to take my bath, went back to my room and slept off almost immediately. My sleep😴 was sound as I didn't even know PHCN had restored power. 🔫Then I woke up to the sound of heavy banging on a door but I was sure it wasn't my door. It sounded like the main door which gives entrance into the house's passage. The people on the other side of the door started shouting, "open this door or else we'll break it down. At the count of three, if you don't open ...

😀You people should know that English is hard, more reason I decided to write this the way it is coming to my mind. Grammarians biko don't fish for errors, e nu go, odikwa intentional. Me was jejely strolling with my roomie and this chubby woman with two kids, one strapped to her back and the other in front, comman walk up to us saying, "corpers, twins are greeting you". Me kè, greeting me, twins that cannot talk yet abi? It is like you want to use us to play soft work. Did I say the woman was with a big black bag💼? I didn't abi, that's because I didn't notice at first. Me just kept walking o, I'm in no man's land, I cannot comman be talking too much to strangers. Na so my Mama teach me, you can ask her. 🏦Fast-forward two days later, I con go collect the change in my piggy bank, ATM to be precise. I saw mummy twins wi...

Broken Chords🎸

🔬Have you ever felt being involved in some kind of twisted experiment? You begin a task and then got cut short abruptly, you get set back. You had to start the process over again, painstakingly. You continue with rocket focus, but the same thing happens. Like a chord broken while trying to sound a symphony. Wondering if good music can still come out of broken chords. Then, piece by piece you fall apart; but somewhere in between, something gives you hope, a clear sense of duty, you feel invincible even if for a moment. You carry on. 🎯In archery🎯, the farthest an arrow will go is directly proportional to the amount of force applied to set it back (pull) on the bowstring. Setbacks pushes the arrow forward. You can see it's trajectory but can't determine its destination until it lands. Same applies to humans. Sometimes we need that set back to launch us into greater heights. Heights we sometimes feel are to high for us to scale. It feels hard, the struggle to start over ag...

Be Relentless...

A while ago, we had water issues in my house and my immediate younger brother and I always had to wake up very early to fetch water from a nearby tap which we would pay and still wait in line for our turns despite all the bickering as you would find in most places where water is being sold. As God would have it, a new pumping machine was bought and the water issue was solved once and for all. As we all know, the machine is dependent on electricity and P.H.C.N isn't our friend in my area which my neighbours can testify to. Therefore, whenever P.H.C.N restores power, the onus is on whoever is at home to dash to the machine's switch to pump water. This particular day, I was at home dealing with the heat in all its glory and to my utmost surprise, the "Power Hoarders" decided to gift us electricity, I dashed downstairs to pump water and I saw one of the most fascinating scenario I've ever witnessed... I saw a plant growing alone surrounded by a cemented floor, I too...

On Love and Bliss🗣

Image
🌐Life is full of coincidental connections, you should cherish these connections and these good connections will continue to be created. In the pages of any book you have adventures, you find that there are no limits to where you can go and who you can be. You discover that sometimes a place you are used to isn't the place you belong, you belong where you believe you belong. Love is one of such adventures we encounter in this "Long ride" called Life. This adventure (Love) might give you golden thrills, grow into a benign tumor or turn into a compilation of moments of frenzies. 💕Kendrick Lamar said, "Love is not just a verb, it's you looking in the mirror". Words are powerful. The work is in its combination. When you look into the mirror you see your reflection. Your perfect imperfections. Your sporadic victories. Your pyrrhic victories. Your pain. Your passion. Your faulty idealism. Your blooming grace. Your stark reality. Your despair. Your Sacrifices. ...
