Morning Meditation
👨One of the cardinal activities in N.Y.S.C orientation camps is the morning meditation and drills. The mediation is required to be written and delivered by one member of each platoon each day except Sundays. I was a member of platoon 3 (which had the "discipline" mantra) in my camp at Ekiti state and had the privilege of writing and delivering the second morning meditation for my platoon. So, I felt like sharing it on this platform too

Platoon 3 Morning Meditation🗣
♠The labour of our heroes past shall never be in vain. This is a line we recite everyday because their generation was known for something worthwhile. I put it to you this morning my fellow corps members that our generation will be known for nothing; never will we be called the pride of our time if we fail to uphold and live by this core value called discipline.
📚According to Merriam Webster dictionary, discipline is a form of training that corrects, moulds, or perfects the mental faculties or moral character; a controlled behaviour or self-control.
Self discipline is the ability to control one's feelings and overcome one's weaknesses; the ability to pursue what one thinks is right despite temptations to abandon it.
🕯Discipline is what gets you up at night to get things done while your counterparts are sleeping, this is the habit of every successful person, and this is characterised by the disciplined habit of studying which got most of us here from various institutions of higher learning in the country.
Self discipline is what makes you not to give up on your dreams even when nobody sees it for you, you must see it for yourself. As corps members, we can only serve this nation with our hearts and might if we imbibe this core value called discipline.
⚖From time immemorial, we have been taught that knowledge is power; but today's situation has taught us that knowledge is only potential power, as the disciplined application of knowledge is what gives power which we can use to transform our generation.
🌖If we fail today, no excuse is acceptable but our duty is not to dwell on our failures but to make disciplined effort to get back up and carry on. Most of us complain that waking up at 5:00am for morning drills is difficult; well, it's supposed to be, because without difficulty there will be no growth, there will be no resistance and there will be nothing to force you to grow stronger for the task ahead.
👶Lastly, if we can turn things around by becoming disciplined or employing self discipline as the case may be, then, our generation will be known for something valuable that transcends the sands of time even for generations yet unborn.
